Qatar
On Wednesday 23 April, Qatar Petroleum awarded the project for the extension of the port of Mesaieed to the consortium Jan De Nul – STFA.
Peru
In Callao, Peru works have just started for a USD 210 million project where Jan De Nul in consortium with Odebrecht and Saipem is executing the dredging and filling works for the construction of a new container terminal for client DP World.
Honduras
The contract worth EUR 8 million has been signed and the financing is in place for the extension of Puerto Cortes in Honduras.
Trinidad
The consortium GLF – Jan De Nul has been awarded a USD 80 million design construct contract for the extension of La Galeota port in Trinidad for NEC, the national oil company.
Spain
Jan De Nul is also putting two backacter dredges and later on one cutter suction dredge to work in Barcelona, Spain for main contractor Ferrovial for the reconstruction of the recently damaged caisson quaywall in El Prat.
Brazil
In Aracruz, Brazil, Jan De Nul will be executing the dredging and deepening works for the Barra do Riacho terminal of Portocel and Petrobras.
Australia
A 300.000 ton rock-dumping contract for the Pluto Pipeline Project has been awarded to Jan De Nul by Woodside.
Qatar
In addition to the Rasgas, Qatargas 2 and Qatargas 3&4 landfall projects awarded earlier and under execution, Jan De Nul has been awarded a further contract involving the trench dredging, backfilling and rock-dumping on the Shell Pearl Project.

Jan De Nul secures one billion Euro contracts

Furthermore, many of these projects will
be executed in new market areas such as Peru, Trinidad and Brazil.
These new contracts will further strengthen the top market position that the Jan De Nul Group enjoys worldwide.
The total contract value amounts to EUR 330 million.
The work consists of the construction of an extra quay wall of 350 m which will be used for the unloading of aggregates meant for the booming concrete market in Qatar.
The dredging part consists of 5 million m3 of relatively hard rock that has to be dredged to a depth of -15.5 m and will be reclaimed over a distance of 4.5 km.
The total duration of the contract including the civil works is 2 years.
The dredging works will be executed by the cutter suction dredge ‘J.F.J. De Nul’ from September this year and will take about 11 months.
The works also involve some demolition works and wreck removal.
At the same time in Melchorita, Peru with the same partners, Jan De Nul is also involved in the design and construct marine contract for a new LNG terminal (Peru LNG).
Works onshore have already started, the quarry has been opened and the first piles for the trestle have been driven.
Dredging works are due to start in July – August this year.
Jan De Nul’s scope of work is around USD 50 million and includes dredging and rock dumping for the breakwater.
Part of the dredged materials will serve as fill for the future container terminal.
The works are due to start in the second semester of 2008.
The total value of the work is estimated at EUR 20 million.
In total 2.1 million m3 will be dredged with the new backacter ‘Vitruvius’, starting next month.
The total value of the works is around USD 50 million.
Jan De Nul group will further participate in the construction of a new port terminal in Santos.
Envisan, a full daughter of Jan De Nul Group shall also be involved for the dredging and treatment of 500.000 m3 of contaminated silt.
The total value is estimated at some USD 600 million.
The work will be executed in mid 2009 and will be the first project of the new built 6.000 ton side dumping vessel ‘Willem De Vlamingh’.
Trench dredging will be performed by the newly developed elevated excavator capable to work up to 5m water depths.
