Jan De Nul Group secures challenging project in New Caledonia

Recently, Jan De Nul Group started the dredging works for the Koniambo Nickel Project in New Caledonia by order of Koniambo Nickel SAS, a joint venture of Société Minière du Sud Pacifique and Xstrata Nickel. The works involve the dredging of a 5 km long channel and turning basin for the future nickel export port. Around 8 million cubic meters of materials will be excavated. The project value is 66 million €.

It presents a new frontier for Jan De Nul Group as this project is the furthest we have ever operated away from our home base. This in itself will require a logistical "tour de force" from our organization. But, challenges like this we relish.
